Grease Jr. Information

A registration form is located at the end of this post. Please mail it in with your deposit--thanks!

Please read this carefully. Participation in Grease Jr. can only occur if students can
1) be at all rehearsals and performances and
2) can adhere to the rules and requirements described below

1) Schedule
Rehearsals begin on January 14th, except for the week of April 7-11, which is Spring Break. Please look at schedule below cast list for your rehearsal times. There will also be three days off on Friday, Sat. and Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, May 2, 3 and 4, but we will need everyone back for a 6 PM evening rehearsal on Monday, May 5th. Weekend 1 cast will rehearse 6 PM to 9:15 PM on April 29, 30 and May 1 instead of their normal schedule. The final week before each before opening for each cast can expect to rehearse each night, Monday thru Weds., from 6 to 9:30 PM. Because of the level of commitment, students may have to miss at least one day of school to rest, and one more half day if we do a school assembly. This is not for the faint-of-heart. It's a big commitment for the whole family. And, yes, there will be a car on stage of some kind. We will rehearse Monday afternoon of January 28th even though it is a school day off.

Grease Jr. Jr., with licensed permission from Samuel French, Inc., opens at Sehome High School Cafetorium in Bellingham, WA on Thursday, May 8th at 7 PM and plays Friday the 9th at 7 PM, Saturday the 10th at 2 PM and 7 PM (2 shows) and Sunday the 11th at 2 PM. Cast for weekend 2 will perform Thursday, May 15th at 7 PM and plays Friday the 16th at 7 PM, Saturday the 17th at 2 PM and 7 PM (2 shows) and Sunday the 18th at 2 PM. Each family participating will receive 4 free tickets to Grease Jr. Tickets for the show, for all seats, are $10, and will be available at www.brownpapertickets.com.

The cast will likely perform one show at a local school for an assembly, date to be determined. We will participate in a joint concert with the Bellingham Children's Choir around May 21st, with the exact date to be confirmed soon. These are required performances please--we're one cast and one big team!

2) Casting
We base our casting on who is right for each role and on positive attitude.
Ages: If a student will be eight by the last performance date or fourteen before the first audition, they can qualify to be a part of the show, if they are cast. In advance, I'll ask that all families attempt to not get 'hung up' on what part he or she gets or doesn't get. This is about being a part of a team...the smallest part can be very wonderful if a person has a positive attitude. Just try to make a contribution towards the whole and get beyond your self.

3) Expectations
Students involved in Grease Jr. or the Bellingham Children's Choir must have a great attitude, follow directions, be on time, be prepared for rehearsals (learn their lines or songs as assigned by the director) have a great attendance record and in general be easy to work with. If a student shows that he or she does not have these qualities, they may need to not be involved in these programs. This is at the discretion of the director and staff. A tuition refund will occur for those classes not attended in this case.

4) Tuition and Scholarships
The tuition for being in the production is $80 a month for lead ensemble (2 long rehearsals a week), $60 for ensemble (two rehearsals a week) and $50 a month for beginning ensemble, usually ages 8-10 (two shorter rehearsals a week), and includes over 80 instructional contact hours with a professional staff including choreographers, musicians, an acting coach, and technical personnel. Once cast, an initial deposit will be required by January 10th in the amount of $100. There is a $25 materials fee. Scholarships are provided for anyone who cannot afford full tuition. Remember: it's not the part you get, it's being a part of a team! If you'd like to provide service instead of payment (helping out or bartering in some way), that would be great. The main thing is that young people get a great opportunity to let their lights shine!

Thank you, students, for auditioning. If you have any questions, please call director David Post at
306-1543! Better yet, e-mail Mr. Post at david@baay.org. Best wishes!

Registration Summary

$25__________ Costome and Materials Fee for Grease Jr.

$35__________ Registration Fee (for new students to BAAY only)

$_________ Class tuition
(If you are enrolling more than one child, please subtract $25 from that child’s tuition. If your child is enrolling in multiple classes, please subtract $25 from each additional class).

Please note that we calculated the appropriate fees and then divided by five to calculate the monthly tuition. This was a mistake on our part. These initial calculations were: leads tuition $400 tuition divided by 5 months=$80 a month , level 2 $300 tuition divided by 5 months= $60 a month and level 1 $250 a month divided by 5 months= $50 a month. These fees were the same or lower than last years' fees. Since there were actually under five months of participation, including the choral concert, we are willing to split the difference of this initial mistake in calculation (it's our fault, not yours). The fees below reflect this. Thanks for understanding and feel free to contact David Post is you have any questions.

FEES:
(all are less than last year's fees, up to $175 less for level 1)
• Leads - $360
• Level 2 Ensemble - $270
• Level 1 Ensemble - $225

Payments policy: There is an initial deposit of $100 due by January 10, 2008. Please pay full amount now if possible or pay in four installments, evenly divided. All payments are due at the first class of each month. Thank you!

We do give scholarships for low income families. These are only given to families that truly could not participate unless they are given assistance. We do this on the honor system.
We suggest a barter for this of some kind or have the scholarship recipient and/or family help out at events for their tuition. We are here so that all young people who can follow classroom rules may come and have a great experience!
